Citizens’ Ambulance Service is announcing the formation of their Community Training program.  The Community Training program provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) and first aid courses through the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

Reality Tour

 

Citizens’ Ambulance Service will be participating in the Reality Tour© offered by the Armstrong-Indiana Drug & Alcohol Commission, Inc.  The Reality Tour© is a drug prevention program that local organizations are providing to demonstrate a dramatization of a teen on heroin from arrest to death from an overdose that allows the participants to share the experiences in which too many families have suffered through in real life.  Click the photo to the left to access the registration form.

Blood Drives

 

Supported by staff and volunteers, Citizens’ Ambulance Service and the American Red Cross host a blood drive annually at the Indiana facility in September.  Please support this need and “Give the Gift of Life”.  For more information please contact the Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross at 724-465-5678.

 

 

Health and Safety

 

Health and safety presentations are scheduled at many of the area’s aging services, churches, and schools.  Please contact Claire Hogan at Citizens’ Ambulance for scheduling your group’s interest or to arrange an ambulance tour for your youth group or scout troop.  Claire can be reached by calling 724-349-5511 or you may email her at chogan@asgmt.com.

 

Citizens’ joins other local businesses and supports children’s safety by participating in the “Safe Kids” program in Pennsylvania (http://www.pasafekids.org).  Citizens’ has assisted with bike safety tips, distribution of bike helmets, back to school and Halloween safety guidelines, Whales Tales, and the Family Fun Fest to name a few.

 

 

Expo Mart-Chamber of Commerce

early part of each year to help with the preparations of our

annual membership campaign. 

 

Volunteers enjoy the opportunity to share their time in a

very informal setting while contributing to the success of

Citizens’ Ambulance Service.

Certification Levels

 

EMT-B Training:  Indiana University of PA (IUP) offers an EMT-B class if you would like to train as an Emergency Medical Technician. Interested individuals may seek financial assistance through Citizens’ Ambulance Service.  For class information please contact IUP directly at 724-357-4052; and for scholarship information please contact Reba Johnson, Human Resource Director for Citizens’ Ambulance Service at 724-349-5511 ext 216 or email rbjohnson@asmgt.com.

 

EMT-P Training:  Citizens’ Ambulance Service in conjunction with Mutual Aid Ambulance offers the opportunity for certified EMT-B’s to participate in the EMT-P Training class.  If you would like to elevate your certification, classes are held at the Citizens’ location in Indiana PA as an adjunct site to the Mutual Aid Ambulance program.  Scholarship funds may be available.  Please contact Reba Johnson, Human Resource Director for Citizens’ Ambulance Service at 724-349-5511 ext 216 or email rbjohnson@asmgt.com.

 

Continuing Education

 

CPR/ACLS/PALS/PHTLS:  Citizens’ Ambulance Service, in conjunction with Allegheny General Hospital and Mutual Aid Ambulance Service, provide educational opportunities for Citizens’ current staff and  healthcare personnel from area organizations.

 

General Continuing Education:  Citizens’ offers continuing education classes on various topics every month beginning February 2008.  For more information on the scheduled courses at Citizens’ Ambulance, please email Chuck Allias at callias@asmgt.com.

Citizens’ Ambulance Service EMS Training Scholarship

Financially eligible students enrolled in the IUP Division of Emergency Services Training EMT-B class or the Citizens’ Mutual Aid Ambulance (MAA) EMT-P training program may apply.

Jerry Esposito/Citizens’ Ambulance Service Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolled in a Pennsylvania college or university.  Preference is given to applicants who are ASMC employees or family members of ASMC employees.  Applications are taken during the summer months for an award in the fall semester.

Robert G. Goldstrohm M.D. Memorial  Scholarship

The scholarship fund is maintained through the IUP Department of Major and Planned Giving and was established to primarily benefit a current ASMC employee attending IUP or a resident of Indiana County. Information can be obtained by contacting the IUP Financial Aid Department.  

Additional Scholarships Awarded in 2007

The Guy Dosch Memorial Scholarship awarded funds in 2007 to an ASMC employee attending nursing school.   

The Bork Family Fund of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies  awarded scholarship funds to Citizens’ Ambulance Service to assist students enrolled in the IUP EMT-B class.
